Are more people celebrating the end of their marriage?

Whether you live in Chicago or elsewhere, going through a divorce can be emotional. People may be overcome by sadness and anger. However, some people are trying to make the best out of a difficult situation by celebrating their life as a newly single person.

More and more people are choosing to celebrate the end of their marriage with a divorce party. One woman hosted 15 of her closest friends six weeks after splitting from her second husband.

“How long can you live in your grief?” the woman said. “Whether it’s divorce or death, life is fabulous.”

While a party may seem right for some, others may opt for a trip to mark the end of their marriage and the beginning of their new life. One woman took a two-week road trip with one of her friends shortly before her divorce was finalized.

People in Chicago and beyond often spend years envisioning what their marriage will look like. When people say “I do” they usually expect that the relationship will last forever. While no one hopes their marriage will end in divorce, making the decision to split for good may be best for some couples.

Before planning a party or big trip, however, people would be wise to seek out an experienced family law attorney. There are many issues that couples must sort through during the divorce process such as child support, child custody, alimony and property division. An attorney will look out for their client’s needs while working towards solutions that are fair for everyone involved.
