Sorting through child custody matters can be difficult at times. Some parents can’t imagine being separated from their children. However, in some instances, it is in the child’s best interests to remain apart from one or both parents.
A Chicago woman was recently charged in an Illinois court with interference with child custody as well as battery. The woman does not have custody of her 4-year-old daughter. However, she reportedly removed the child from an aunt’s home after striking the relative in the face. Last reports indicate that the mother had not yet returned the child to her father, who has legal custody of the young girl.
It is not clear why the mother does not have custody of her daughter. People with a history of drug or alcohol addiction and those who may be violent can be forced to give up custody of their children.
A divorce can be filled with a variety of challenging matters. However, child custody and child support matters are often some of the most difficult matters to sort through. A divorce can be particularly hard for children to cope with. In order to solve matters in a timely manner, parents should try to focus on what is best for their children.
Because family law issues can be complicated, working with an experienced attorney is often best. An attorney will work on behalf of their client to resolve difficult issues. The hope in any divorce is that matters can be solved in a fair and equitable manner.
