The unexpected loss of a loved one, especially a child, to a fatal accident is a most tragic event. An Illinois serious injuries lawyer may be able to provide a legal context to such tragedies. The pain and suffering of family members caused in the wake of such an incident can be devastating. A Chicago suburb was the scene of such an incident last week.
On a Saturday afternoon, a 4-year-old boy lost his life when he drowned on the premises of a local country club. The county coroner’s office is still trying to piece together the chain of events culminating in the fatal tragedy. An autopsy has been scheduled.
The fire department paramedics received a call around 3:00 p.m. from the country club regarding a person in cardiac arrest on their premises. The boy was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, but did not survive. The death has been termed a “personal tragedy” by the local police. As of the night of the incident, the country club’s management has not responded to requests for comments.
Drowning may be caused any number of ways. Certain drowning accidents can involve legal liability if it is determined that the tragedy could have been avoided. In such circumstances, the victim’s family may choose to seek compensation for their loss by alleging wrongful death in their lawsuit. The skills of a wrongful death attorney can be of use for the purpose of determining liability, if any, and to pursue a legal recourse for recovering damages if the facts of the case determine negligence was a factor.
